(New York) February 17, 2015 —Looking for a fun and exciting summer experience for your kids? Try The Ailey Extension’s summer dance series for kids of all ages.  Tiny Steps, the perfect Parent and toddler class for 2-year-olds, Hip-Hop 4 Kids (ages 7-11), and the Teen Extension Summer Dance Series (ages 12-17), will all be offered from June 7th – August 2nd.  Aspiring dancers who are ready to step up their training this summer can attend The Ailey Experience (ages 13-18) and Fabrice Herrault’s Ballet Intensive (ages 13-19) from August 10 – 21.

Tiny Steps celebrates children’s natural ability to move in expressive ways in a series of music and creative movement classes for toddlers two to three years of age and their caregivers.  Instructors will guide participants through fun, playful dance exercises accompanied by live music, developing the child’s body awareness and control while exploring his or her own creativity, increasing understanding of the connection between dance, rhythm and music.

For students ages 7-11, the Extension will offer Hip-Hop 4 Kids.  The workshop teaches students the fundamentals of Hip-Hop movement including basic body isolations, precision, performance quality and choreography.

The Teen Extension Summer Dance Series offers students ages 12-17 a diverse range of dance classes including Ballet, Hip-Hop and Contemporary Jazz. These weekly classes will be taught by renowned instructors in a “no-pressure” environment that allows students to gain confidence not only in their dancing abilities, but in themselves.

The Ailey Experience and Fabrice Herrault’s Ballet Intensive give aspiring dancers the opportunity to experience what it’s like to train professionally, culminating in a performance at the world-renowned Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater’s home – the largest center dedicated to dance in New York City – the dance capital of the world. The Ailey Experience students learn from top instructors and experience three daily classes in a variety of techniques including Ballet, Horton, Contemporary, Hip-Hop, West African and more.  Students will also attend meet and greets with former Ailey Company members, receive Ailey souvenirs and discounted tickets to Broadway shows.  Dancers of all levels are also welcome to audition for renowned ballet instructor Fabrice Herrault’s acclaimed workshop which includes daily ballet technique classes, guest teachers, and weekly reviews of ballet films and choreography.
