KINDNESS RELEASES SOLANGE COVER, ADDS PHILADELPIA DATE TO UPCOMING NORTH AMERICAN TOUR IN SUPPORT OF OTHERNESS
“Some Things Never Seem To Fucking Work” Now Streaming via SoundCloud
Amidst widespread acclaim for his new album, Otherness, Kindness today releases a cover of Solange’s “Some Things Never Seem to Fucking Work.” Kindness, backed by a full band, has embarked on an extensive world tour, beginning with a sold out show at the Electric Brixton, London, UK that saw guest performances from Robyn, Devonté Hynes, Tawiah and Nightworks’ Gabriel Stebbins. The North American leg of the tour begins at the El Rey in Los Angeles on February 25, concluding with a newly added show in Philadelphia on March 20. A full itinerary is below.
For Kindness’s cover of “Some Things Never Seem To Fucking Work,” the dance grooves are stripped from the original and the tempo slowed down to explore the emotional depth of the lyrics. The result is a dark, turbulent version that could serve as the soundtrack to a bad breakup.
Released October 14 by Female Energy / Mom + Pop, Otherness has earned widespread critical praise.A four-star review in the new issue of Q calls Adam Bainbridge (aka Kindness) as “a songwriter of singular depth and emotion.” A four-star review in Mojo has described the album as “transcendent and inventive,” and another four-star review, in The Guardian,calls Otherness “a beautifully crafted album.” The Washington Post said, “Bainbridge drapes wilting soul songs over various clattering pulses…to glorious effect.”
