[New York, NY – February 11, 2015] Kid Ink has done it again! The LA native’s major label sophomore LP, Full Speed (Tha Alumni Music Group/88 Classic/RCA Records), enters at No. 1 on Billboard’s Rap Albums and R&B/Hip Hop Albums charts, and No. 4 on the Digital Albums chart, according to this week’s Nielsen SoundScan.
On the global front, Full Speed debuts at No. 10 on the Top Albums charts in the UK and Germany, the latter of which places Ink within an elite group of US rappers with albums that have debuted within the Top 10 in Germany. Over the last 5 years, only 4 rap albums have earned Germany’s Top 10 debut status – Eminem’s Shady XV (2014), The Marshall Mathers LP2 (2013) and Recovery (2010), and Jay Z & Kanye West’s Watch The Throne (2011). Full Speed also debuts at No. 7 in Switzerland; No. 7 and No. 8 on the France and Canada Digital Albums charts, respectively.
Kid Ink’s worldwide iTunes chart positions are equally impressive, peaking at No. 1 in 6 markets including the US and UK; Top 5 in 11 markets including Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Russia; Top 10 in 9 territories including Canada, Czech Republic, Luxembourg, France and Hungary.
Fueled by the hit singles “Body Language” and “Hotel,” Full Speed has been described as “Kid Ink’s best project to day” by XXL Magazine. In addition to the ‘XL’ album rating, XXL also stated Ink “sounds focused and he executes by pleasing his core fans with quality radio and club-friendly music. With all the conflict, allegations and turmoil sweeping the rap game in the past month, hip-hop needs a moment to relax and have fun. That moment has finally arrived.” Billboard stated “Ink balances and sharpens his many nightlife-focused tracks with a smart conciseness…”
Full Speed features guest appearances by Chris Brown, Usher, R. Kelly, Dej Loaf, Migos, Trey Songz, Tinashe and more. Producers Stargate, Cashmere Cat, DJ Mustard, Key Wane, The Featherstones, NicNac, Mark Kragen and others provide the head-nodding beats.
Selected by Shazam as one of the “2014 New Artists to Watch” and chosen by MTV International as their first PUSH campaign artist of 2014, Kid Ink released his major label debut album, My Own Lane, on January 7, 2014. My Own Lane entered at #1 on Billboard’s Rap Albums chart, #2 on Top R&B/Hip Hop Albums chart and #3 on both the Top 200 and Top Digital Albums charts, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Since its release, the album has accrued worldwide TEA and album sales of over 730,000! The album’s hit single “Show Me” is RIAA-certified double platinum in the US, gold in Australia and Canada. The single holds the record for the most weeks at #1 on the Rap Airplay chart for 18 weeks and was the #1 airplay record at Rhythmic radio for 2014 making Ink the #2 airplay artist at that format behind Chris Brown. Ink’s follow-up single, “Main Chick,” is certified gold and was the most added song at Urban Mainstream radio at the time of release. The videos for both aforementioned songs were viewed over 126 million times with “Show Me” garnering VEVO certified status crossing 100 million views. Not one to rest on his laurels, Ink has performed over 200 shows in over 24 countries last year, inclusive of his recent sold-out “My Own Lane European Tour.”
