She will be responsible for developing and directing a broad, institution-wide communications strategy in support of The Ringling’s visibility, reputation, fundraising, attendance, and organizational goals.

“We are excited to bring Joan to The Ringling,” Steven High, executive director at The Ringling said. “She is a senior marketing and communications executive with in-depth experience in building brands and market awareness.  She has enjoyed a successful career creating strategic integrated programs that build and strengthen positioning and have had significant impact with target audiences.”

“I am thrilled to be working at The Ringling and living in Sarasota,” Horrvich said. “I have visited my sister and her family here for many years and have always appreciated Sarasota’s rich and diverse cultural community.”

Before arriving in Sarasota Horrvich worked for many years in New York City. She was Director of Knowledge and External Relations for McKinsey & Company, where she was responsible for broadening the positioning of the firm beyond that of a strategy and organization management consulting firm.

Before joining UBS, Horrvich was Head of Marketing Communications at Goldman, Sachs & Co., where she conceptualized and implemented the firm’s first external communications program which helped to build the brand and visual identity as well as establish its positioning in alignment with the strategic business plan.

Horrvich holds a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in finance, from Columbia University Graduate School of Business and a Bachelor’s degree cum laude, with a major in mathematics, from Vassar College.
