We hope that you had a good holiday and that you’ll come celebrate the new year and Schubert’s birthday with us on Saturday, January 31st. After his brilliant and touching recital (stepping-in at the last minute for Radu Lupu last season), we’re delighted to have Kuok-Wai Lio return to play Haydn, Schumann and Schubert’s great G Major Sonata.
Over the years, longtime Peoples’ Symphony Concerts subscribers have discovered such exciting young artists as Leif Ove Andsnes, Jonathan Biss, Jeremy Denk, Lang Lang, Richard Goode, Murray Perahia, Andras Schiff and Peter Serkin, all of whom have become some of the most admired pianists of our time. They were artists whose names weren’t known when they first played for us.
Come hear two of the next generation’s most promising young pianists – Kuok-Wai Lio on the 31st and Ran Dank, a former student of Richard Goode, on Sunday, February 8 at 2pm at Town Hall His program includes works of Chopin and the great Liszt Sonata in B minor. And, if you are a chamber music fan, you can discover a terrific string quartet from France when the Hermes Quartet plays Haydn, Beethoven and Schumann for us on Saturday, February 14.
