Chamber Music and Orchestra for Adults, Jeffrey Khaner Flute Class, and the Young Artist Summer Program will return

PHILADELPHIA, PA—October 30, 2014—Come to Curtis this summer to study with some of the top musicians from around the world, among them Curtis faculty, alumni, Philadelphia Orchestra musicians, and soloists and chamber musicians with thriving careers.

Registration opens today for Curtis Summerfest (www.curtis.edu/Summerfest), summer programs at Curtis that reflect the school’s commitment to expanding advocacy for music and interest in the art form to enthusiasts of all ages and abilities. This summer’s offerings include Chamber Music and Orchestra for Adults, Jeffrey Khaner Flute Class, Young Artist Summer Program, and the newly expanded Young Artist Voice and Collaborative Piano Program.

New in 2015, Young Artist Voice and Collaborative Piano Program offers an opportunity to study with top artists in the field, including Mikael Eliasen, artistic director of the Curtis Opera Theatre, and internationally renowned baritone William Stone. The two-week intensive program is designed for singers 17 and older studying vocal performance at the college or graduate level and exceptional pianists committed to the collaborative arts who are studying at the college level or have already completed a bachelor’s degree.

Lessons and coachings take place in Lenfest Hall, Curtis’s new building tailored for music-making, and in the historic main building at 1726 Locust Street. Spaces are equipped with Steinway pianos throughout. Located in the heart of Center City Philadelphia, Curtis Summerfest also offers residential and dining facilities for out-of-town participants. Connecting with an international community, Curtis Summerfest has already attracted students from seven different countries and across the United States, ranging in age from 12 to 88.
