GARCETTI STATEMENT ON OBAMA CALL FOR MINIMUM WAGE INCREASE
Today, 10/10 President Obama is rallying support for an increase in the federal minimum wage to $10.10. On Tuesday, Vice President Joe Biden was in Los Angeles to lead a round table discussion in support of Mayor Garcetti’s plan to raise the minimum wage in Los Angeles to $13.25 by 2017.
“We are proud to stand with the President in support of raising the minimum wage. Our plan would enable a full-time working family in LA to lift themselves out of poverty. It would also tie the minimum wage to the cost of living. This is common sense and the right thing to do. We have always prospered the most when everyone is able to spend money into our economy. We applaud the President’s leadership on this critical issue. I encourage all Angelenos to call on their representatives in Washington to support an increase in the minimum wage.” — Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti
