September 8, 2014—NY NOW: SUMMER WRAP-UP, Part 2 |
One of the highlights of the summer market was the “Open House” trend display, showcasing four emerging home and lifestyle design trends—Brass Tactics, Straight Out of Gibraltar, Prints Charming, and Lakeside Living. The third annual “Open House” was presented cooperatively by NY NOW and media partner Progressive Business Media – publishers ofGifts and Decorative Accessories, Home Accents Today and Home & Textiles Today – and color, trend and e-commerce partner One Kings Lane.
Another highlight was the debut of NY NOW’s Maker Project, which combined exhibits, education and events connected with this burgeoning DIY-meets-tech movement. Central to this was the debut of an Etsy Wholesale pavilion, featuring 24 sellers of a range of home and lifestyle merchandise and The Grommet Wholesale display, spotlighting some 40 makers. Look for expansions on this theme at the next Market – January 31-February 4, 2015. |
Innovative and intriguing product design was recognized at the summer edition of NY NOW through several award programs. In particular, the Accent on Design® Awards recognized the best in contemporary design and the Eco Choice Awards called-out tops in “green” home and lifestyle products. |
