How to celebrate World Rhino Day on Monday September 22nd with |
|
Dereck Joubert, CEO Great Plains Conservation, filmmaker and National Geographic Explorer–in–Residence, is the co–creator of the extraordinary Rhinos without Borders campaign. He explains how everyone can join the campaign and help save the rhino. “I am not sure the word celebration and rhinos can be used on the same sentence without it sticking in one’s throat but on World Rhino Day, Great Plains Conservation, Beverly, my wife and I, and all our staff and friends, stand alongside the global protest for them. Without rhinos, and other threatened species such as elephants and of course lions, whole ecosystems will collapse. This is why we have taken the steps to move 100 rhinos to safe havens in Botswana. Every effort should be made to get behind saving these key species from imminent extinction,” says Joubert. Starting on Monday, September 22nd, World Rhino Day, the Great Plains Foundation will be donating its revenue for each booking made that day at their award winning camps in Botswana, directly to the #RhinosWithoutBorders project, a joint collaboration between Great Plains Conservation and &Beyond. For this one day only Great Plains Conservation are including reservations for the month of June 2015 and Festive season 2014 bookings. To put this offer in perspective, five average stay bookings for two people to one of our camps will save one rhino. Participating camps are Duba Plains Camp; Zarafa Camp & Dhow Suites; Selinda Camp; and Selinda Explorers Camp. Please quote ‘Zeros For Rhinos’ or ‘Rhinos Without Borders,’ when making a reservation with Great Plains Foundation at [email protected]. |
