AMERICAN PSYCHO

From Its Current Season

Second Stage Theatre (Carole Rothman, Artistic Director) has announced that it will no longer be producing the new musical, AMERICAN PSYCHO, as had been previously announced.

“We are disappointed that we will not be producing American Psycho this season, but the rights holders, Act 4 Entertainment, have decided to not move forward with the production at Second Stage,” said Artistic Director Carole Rothman.   “We will be announcing a new production in its place in the coming weeks.”

The new musical, AMERICAN PSYCHO, features a book by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa (2ST’s Good Boys and True, “Glee,” Broadway’s Spider-Man: Turn off the Dark), music and lyrics by Grammy and Tony-Award Winner Duncan Sheik (Spring Awakening), directed by Rupert Goold (Broadway’s Macbeth with Patrick Stewart, ENRON).  AMERICAN PSYCHO is based on the novel by Bret Easton Ellis.

Second Stage Theatre’s 36th Season will kick off in October with a new production of the Terrence McNally play, LIPS TOGETHER, TEETH APART, directed by Peter DuBois.  This is the first NYC staging of McNally’s acclaimed play since its original production over 23 years ago.  Featuring Michael Chernus, Tracee Chimo, America Ferrera, and Austin Lysy, LIPS TOGETHER, TEETH APART will begin previews on October 7th and officially open on October 29th.  The season will also include the world premiere of Neil LaBute’s THE WAY WE GET BY, directed by Tony nominee Leigh Silverman, opening next spring.
