With both Memorial Day and Labor Day now a distant memory, the official countdown to the end of summer 2014 has begun.
So, what artist ruled YouTube, Google Play and Google Search this summer?
The clear winner is Iggy Azalea.
According to YouTube, it is also a sign of how Australian musicians have taken over the pop music scene in last 6 months (5 Seconds of Summer, Sia, Vance Joy, Janoskians, Troye Sivan, among others) making “A pop” the new “K pop”
While Ariana Grande is a close second on Google Play and third on YouTube, Nicki Minaj’s late summer release spiked her to #2 on Google Search and #9 on YouTube. Other than Jason Derulo at #2 on Play, it was a female-dominated summer.
While Google Search didn’t include it, Frozen kept playing on Google Play at #10 and YouTube #8.
People still love ‘Gangnam Style,’ putting it at #5 on YouTube’s charts.
