This story begins in January, 2012, on a modest brewing system situated within the internationally renowned Peruvian gastro-brewpub and restaurant Darwin’s on 4th in Sarasota, Fla. Chef Darwin Santa Maria opened the restaurant to much critical acclaim, offering authentic Andean cuisine alongside live music and Brewmaster Jorge Rosabal’s complex and flavorful artisan beers.
Through beer dinners, festivals and rave reviews within the craft beer community, Rosabal’s brews became well known and extremely popular. Darwin Brewing Company was born to meet the demand for these beers, and Rosabal expanded his operations to a newly-constructed 15 barrel production facility, tasting room and beer garden in nearby Bradenton, Florida.
Named one the top brewpubs in the country by USA Today in January, Darwin’s on 4th continues to offer Rosabal’s unique brews paired with Chef Darwin Santa Maria’s world-class cuisine, and carries on its tradition of hosting premier beer dinners.
Darwin Brewing Company earned thirteen medals at last year’s Tampa Bay Beer Week including second runner up for best beer in Florida and Brewmaster Jorge Rosabal’s new brews continue to receive rave reviews including being named one of “4 Great American Beer Festival beers we love” by Draft Magazine in October 2013.
