September 2, 2014 – (Burbank, CA.) – The Physical World, the upcoming new album from globally revered and highly influential dance-punk duo Death From Above 1979, is now streaming in its entirety on iTunes. It will stream from today until its release by Last Gang Records/Warner Bros. Records on September 9th.
Produced by D. Sardy (Red Hot Chili Peppers, LCD Soundsystem, Wolfmother, Oasis), The Physical World comes a full ten years after the release of the band’s universally acclaimed debut album, You’re A Woman, I’m A Machine, which made Jesse F. Keeler (bass, synths, backing vocals) and Sebastien Grainger (vocals and drums), an underground/overground sensation. DFA 1979 broke up in 2006 while the first album and subsequent remix album continued to sell. They reunited in 2011 and began to perform live, picking up where they left off without missing a beat. Their rabid cult has only continued to grow.
For fans in and around the Toronto, Ontario CAN. area, DFA 1979 will be kicking things off with The Physical World: Pop Up Shop & Tattoo Parlour on Sept. 3rd & 4th at 952 Queen Street West. The pop-up shop will feature special limited edition items unavailable anywhere else, and fans who come early can sign up to get some fresh ink – free! More surprises are expected to be announced. Doors open at 10AM. We can’t tell you everything but suffice to say, you will not want to miss these very special events.
Having performed a very special show at The Troubadour in Los Angeles on August 14th, DFA 1979 has announced another intimate club show, this time at Rough Trade Records in Brooklyn on September 8th. In addition, the band will perform their current single “Trainwreck 1979” on
The Late Show with David Letterman on September 10th. At present, the current single is rapidly moving up the Alternative and Rock radio charts. The ascent to lift off begins now. Check local listings for details.
