RANGERS RECALL LHP ROBBIE ROSS JR. FROM ROUND ROCK;

OPTION RHP NATE ADCOCK TO ROUND ROCK

Ross Jr. scheduled to start tonight’s series finale against Tampa Bay

Arlington, Texas – The Texas Rangers formally announced this afternoon that the club has recalled left-handed pitcher Robbie Ross Jr. from Triple-A Round Rock.  To make room for Ross Jr. on the 25-man roster, the club has optioned right-handed pitcher Nate Adcock to Round Rock.

Ross Jr. (#46) is the scheduled Texas starter for tonight’s game against Tampa Bay, taking the spot of Yu Darvish, who was placed on the 15-day disabled list yesterday with right elbow inflammation.  He opened the season as the Rangers’ third starter, and went 2-4 with a 5.61 ERA (38 ER/61.0 IP) in 18 games/9 starts for Texas before he was optioned to Round Rock on June 17.  He made 9 starts to begin the season, going 1-4 with a 4.78 ERA (26 ER/49.0 IP) before he was moved to the bullpen after his most recent big league start on June 16 at Oakland.  He has gone 4-4 with a 5.10 ERA (27 ER/47.2 IP) in 9 games/8 starts with Round Rock, including a 2.91 ERA (11 ER/34.0 IP) in his last 5 starts.

Adcock had no record and a 4.50 ERA (5 ER/10.0 IP) in 7 relief appearances after having his contract purchased by the Rangers on July 24.

The Rangers have 39 players on the club’s 40-man roster.
