Houston, TX – The Texas Rangers today announced that RHP Jerome Williams has been claimed on waivers by the Philadelphia Phillies. Williams is expected to join the Phillies on Monday.
Williams had been designated for assignment by Texas on Friday. He was 1-1, 9.90 (11 ER/10.0 IP) in 2 starts for the Rangers since his contract was purchased from Round Rock on July 25. Overall, Williams is 2-5, 6.71 in 28 games/2 starts with Houston and Texas in 2014.
The Rangers’ major league roster remains at 38 players.
