Next Venice Theatre Guild concert will be this Saturday night with good time rock and roll from the ‘50s and ‘60s

(Venice FL) The Venice Theatre Guild’s 2014 Summer Oldies series got underway in July and continues with shows on August 16, September 13 and wraps up on October 13, 2014. All concerts are Saturday nights at 8 p.m. and tickets are $20. They are on sale now at the theatre’s box office, by phone at 941- 488-1115 or online at www.venicestage.com.

Next up on August 16 is the “Good Time Oldies Band” California Toe Jam. Since 1984, this energetic group has been rockin’ Florida’s heartland with their celebration of the great sounds of the 1950s and ‘60s.

Two more concerts are scheduled for the summer series, The Goldtones on September 13, and Lotela Gold on October 13).

The Summer Oldies Concerts Series is an annual tradition of the Venice Theatre Guild. What started as one show per summer has grown to a full-fledged series of four shows.

All proceeds from the Summer Concert Series fund the Theatre Guild’s Scholarship programs. Every year, the scholarships make it possible for dozens of area youth from pre-K through 12th grade to participate in VT’s performance and tech theatre classes and Theatre Camps. There are also scholarships for older youth enrolled in the theatre’s Technical Theatre Apprenticeship Program and Summer Stock.

Board President Earl Baumruck noted that “We can put a kid in class with the sale of just ten tickets!”

Venice Theatre is located at 140 W. Tampa Ave. on the island in Venice. Summer box office hours are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday and one hour before all performances.
