LOS ANGELES, CA — Hot on the heels of releasing their self-titled debut album on July 22 in the U.S. (Capitol Records), 5 Seconds of Summer will take the VMA stage for the first time during the “2014 MTV Video Music Awards” live from the Forum in Inglewood, CA on Sunday, August 24th at 9pm ET/PT. The Aussie pop-punk quartet has been wowing live audiences worldwide and is primed for this exciting televised performance.

5 Seconds of Summer are currently on a global stadium tour alongside One Direction and have also announced, they will regrettably cancel two of their upcoming performances: Dallas on August 24 and St. Louis on August 27.

The band shared this news with their loyal fans saying, “We have some really awesome news to tell you. This August 24th we are performing at the… MTV Video Music Awards!! To have been asked and given this opportunity is incredible and we cannot be more excited about it. Unfortunately this means that we’ll need to cancel our “Where We Are Tour” support sets in Dallas (08/24) and St Louis (08/27). We are really sorry to everyone that was hoping to see us but we hope to come back, do some more shows and rock out for all of you soon! Much love – Ash, Cal, Mike & Luke.”

These boys are no strangers to the No. 1 slot on iTunes internationally. Their self-titled album, due July 22 on Capitol Records in the U.S., peaked at No. 1 on iTunes in 71 different countries when released on July 1, while the frenzied anticipation stateside continues: their pre-order has surpassed sales of 125,000. Their EP She Looks So Perfect debuted at No. 2 in the U.S. on Billboard’s Top 200 Albums chart and No. 1 on iTunes in over 50 countries.
