PianistDon BrynThe Great American Songbook  What is it?   How did it form?  What makes a song part of it?  Who decides what’s in it?  Come to a fun and informative session with Don Bryn as he plays and shares about some of these classic songs and how the whole idea of the Great American Songbook came to be.  Don teaches Music Theory and Music Appreciation at State College of Florida, plays classical and jazz piano, and loves to talk about music.

Bob Seymour Night 
Long time jazz host on WUSF (89.7) and honorary Jazz Club of Sarasota Board Member, Bob Seymour, will be honored this evening with a presentation of appreciation for outstanding promotion and musical jazz entertainment in our area. 
Five nights a week for over 20 years Bob has played great jazz and explains about the artists and the songs to the delight of jazz lovers.  He has been recognized nation wide for his expertise and insight into jazz.  Bob promotes the events of the Jazz Club of Sarasota as well as others in the Tampa-Sarasota area.
For several years Bob lived in Sarasota and was involved in the Club in the early years with Hal Davis, the founder of the Club.

2015 Winner of the Satchmo Award
Lillette Jenkins-Wisner
The Queen of the Keys, Lillette Jenkins-Wisner, is turning 90 within weeks and is currently working on two films and a book about her life!  She has worked with jazz greats such as Ella Fitzgerald and Duke Ellington and remembers performing in Sarasota in the 1940’s. Lillette has been well known here for her performances, often in the service of charity events and her non-profit, Lillette’s Foundation for the Arts, which has supported students with scholarships and awards.
The Jazz Club of Sarasota will honor her with this year’s Satchmo Award at the concert on Saturday, March 7th
The 11th annual Jazz Festival at SeaThe Jazz Cruise  is the major sponsor for this years festival and paid for in part by a TDC Grant

PARK AT THE MUNICIPAL AUDITORIUM
Trolleys will depart from the MUNICIPAL AUDITORIUM (on Tamiami Trail between Blvd. of the Arts and 10th Street) parking lot beginning at 6:15 pm to the various venues.
Music continues until 10:00 pm. Hop on & off trolley at designated locations near venues. Trolleys run until 10:30 pm
