1019WEST ART STUDIOS PRESENTS FOR
THE 2ND CONSECUTIVE YEAR ZERO DOWN
A MULTI-MEDIA ART EXHIBITION FEATURING AN EXCITING EVENING
OF OPEN STUDIOS, GROUP SHOW, & PERFORMANCE ART
Inglewood–“ZERO DOWN” is a festive one-night art event taking place on Saturday, May 31,
2014, in the studios and on the premises of the 1019WEST Artists Studio Building on the
Inglewood-Westchester border, two blocks west of the 405 at 1019 W. Manchester Blvd.,
Inglewood. This year the multi-disciplinary artists from 1019WEST team up with artists from
the Beacon Arts Building and guest performance artists to bring alive the entire site for an
exciting evening of performance art, music, group exhibition, installations, and open studios
staged at the massive retrofit building. 1019WEST appeared on the LA art scene three years
ago to exceptional acclaim within the arts community, and is situated in an area that is now
known as one of the burgeoning art scenes in LA.
More than 35 artists’ studios at 1019WEST will be open to the public from 5:00-9:00 p.m., while
performance artists will be juxtaposed throughout the site from 6:00-8:00 p.m. A group show
and installations of 1019West and Beacon Arts Building artists will be exhibited in the hallways
and around the site.
Food and drinks will be available throughout the evening, and visitors will find ample street
parking. Walk-in entrance only on West Manchester and Hindry. Several art models from
The Gallery Girls will act as hostesses for the evening.
“It’s always interesting visiting with the artists here at 1019 West Manchester because
everybody is unique and there’s no single style or point of view. You can tell who is here working
on art from the cars in the parking lot, which is never empty. This artist’s campus is right on
to the glide path for LAX which lends it an air of never ending industry. Plus, there is an LA
sort of logic to having art studios in an old automobile dealership,” said Scott Grieger, Artist.
Participating artists from 1019WEST are: Susan Amorde, January Parkos Arnall, Michele
Asselin, Nina Chin, Lee Clarke, Jeanne Dunn, Cathy Fairbanks, Patricia Friedman, Alicia Gaspar
de Alba, Rives Granade, Scott Grieger, Greg Ito, Claire Jackel, Steve Jakobsen, Rachel Kaster,
Henry Kitchen, Alma Lopez, Stuart Marcus, Jesus Max, Shannon McGlothin, David Newcombe,
Melanie Newcombe, David Peters, Tony de Los Reyes, Lauren Ross, Jan Scruton, Jim Self,
Kiki Seror, David Spanbock, Ernie Steiner, Lacey Stoffer, Lisa Vosbigian, Ashley Wilson, Pontus
Wilfors and Joey Wolf.
Participating artists from Beacon Arts Building are: Adrienne Adar, Brian Biedul, Miri Chais,
Susan Doe, Shelley Heffler, Deborah Lambert, Kara Liebowitz, Michael Massenburg, Alexis
