DENVER – June 24, 2014 – Fathom Events and SpectiCast present the timely documentary event “UNITY” featuring an unprecedented cast of 100 celebrity narrators from film, television and music including Adam Levine, Ben Kingsley, Common, Ellen DeGeneres, Jennifer Aniston, Jessica Chastain, Joaquin Phoenix, Helen Mirren, Selena Gomez, Zoe Saldana and many others. Written and directed by Shaun Monson (Earthlings) and produced by Melissa Danis and Monson, the film explores the interconnectivity of all beings on Earth, (nature, animals and humankind) and our responsibility to evolve beyond the primal view of life, which is bent on further dividing, rather than reintegrating. “UNITY” will be presented in select movie theaters nationwide on Wednesday, August 12 at 7:00 p.m. local time and will feature an introduction and Q&A with the filmmaker and key celebrities.

“The title ‘UNITY’ merely signifies the intention of the content.  As a film, it’s not so much to entertain, but rather turn something ‘on’ inside you that has been suppressed or forgotten by this mask that society and/or tradition tend to put upon us,” said Writer and Director Shaun Monson.  “But more than that, the film also helps relate us to the mystery of existence, to all of existence actually, which we are merely a part [of].  And as such, it demonstrates an interesting power for a documentary film, which not only engages viewers but hopefully has a transforming effect on the consciousness of humankind.”

Eight years in the making, the principle intention of “UNITY” was to explore humanity’s transformation from living by killing, (i.e., the primal view of life) into living by loving, which is a higher state of consciousness. Curiously, this capacity for both killing and loving lies within all of us.  So it is a unique film event, not only about compassion for others, or all “expressions of life,” but about going beyond any so-called “separation based on form,” and essentially beyond the perceiving of opposites.  The structure of “UNITY” is presented in chapters, each taking an in-depth look at what it truly means to be human, as well as mortal, and even incarnate in this world of ours. The film opens by exploring our brief existence among the Cosmos (Chapter I), and then moves on to the perceptions of our Mind and egos (Chapter II), then into the nature of our Body and biology (Chapter III), before delving deeper into the infinite capacity of our Heart (Chapter IV), and ultimately to the mysterious energy of the Soul (Chapter V). Initially, these chapters may appear unrelated to each other, which is deliberate. But as the film progresses it becomes abundantly clear that all expressions of life are, indeed, interconnected, and each chapter is merely a microcosm that represents the totality of mortal experience, which is a deeply profound experience, and yet one only measured in decades.  Writer/Director Shaun Monson, collaborating with an astounding cast of 100 celebrity narrators (never before gathered in the history of film-making), presents a message of love, tragedy and hope, all set against the backdrop of some of the most compelling 20^th and 21^st century footage imaginable.
