YOUNG PEOPLE’S CHORUS OF NEW YORK CITY TO PERFORM
CONCERT VERSION OF
EPIPHANY IN VIA’S FERUS FESTIVAL
AT NATIONAL SAWDUST
FRIDAY, JANUARY 15, 2016

Young People's Chorus of New York City

NEW YORK, NY (January 6, 2016) – Epiphany: The Cycle of Life, which the Young People’s Chorus of New York City (YPC) premiered in BAM’s Next Wave Festival in November, will be reprised in an abridged concert version conducted by YPC Artistic Director Francisco J. Núñez on Friday, January 15, at 7:00 p.m. as part of VisionIntoArt’s (VIA) third annual FERUS Festival, being held for the first time at National Sawdust.

A moving and mystical journey of the soul into the afterlife, Epiphany  – a collaboration between YPC and VIA – was conceived by filmmaker Ali Hossaini following the death of his mother. Featuring music by Paola Prestini, Zimbabwean artist Netsayi Chigwendere, and Sarah Kirkland Snider, it was described by Musical America as “a showcase for lovely and refined musicmaking by composers and performers alike.”

Epiphany will share the evening’s bill with a reimagining of VIA’s Lullaby Movement, a work of collected ancient and modern lullabies from diverse cultural, migrant and refugee communities.

All tickets are $25 and are available on the National Sawdust website by clicking here. National Sawdust is located at 80 North Sixth Street in Brooklyn.

The Young People’s Chorus of New York City is a multicultural youth chorus internationally renowned not only for its superb virtuosity and brilliant showmanship, but as a model for an inclusive society that is being replicated globally. Founded in 1988 by Francisco J. Núñez, a MacArthur “genius” Fellow, YPC has heightened an awareness of the ability of a youth choir to rise to unforeseen levels of artistry. Further information is available at www.ypc.org.

This year’s FERUS Festival, which takes place from January 14 to 17, offers a snapshot of the innovative interdisciplinary collaborations for which VisionIntoArt and its founder Paola Prestini are celebrated. More information is available at www.nationalsawdust.org
