The Island Players, Manatee County’s oldest community theatre, located at 10009 Gulf Drive, Anna

Maria, is pleased to present, “The Game’s Afoot” by Ken Ludwig from Nov. 9 – 19, 2017.

Performances are Tuesday – Saturday at 8 pm and Sunday at 2 pm. Tickets are $20 each. The Box Office opens on Monday, October 30 and is open from 9-1 Mondays – Saturdays. On performance nights, the Box Office opens at 7 pm and for Sunday Matinees, it opens at 1 pm. Visa, MasterCard or Discover are accepted.

The play, Directed by Preston Boyd, is set in December of 1936. Broadway star William Gillette (world-famous for playing Sherlock Holmes) has invited fellow cast members to his castle. But when one of the guests is stabbed to death, the festivities quickly turn dangerous. This hilarious, comedy thriller is being Co-Produced by West Bay Landscape, Inc.

The experienced cast consists of many Island favorites; Mark Woodland as William Gillette, Mary Selke as Martha Gillette, Daniel Greene as Felix Geisel, Judy Glynn as Madge Geisel, Heath Jorgenson as Simon Bright, Pamela Hopkins as Aggie Wheeler, Laura Morales as inspector Goring and Robin Rhodes as Daria Chase.

Auditions for our next play, “Beyond A Joke”, by Dereck Benfield, will be held on Nov. 12 at 7:30 p.m. at the theater. The play will run from Jan. 11-28, 2018 and will be directed by James Thaggard.
