For The Chance To Represent Canada At The World Finals In Japan
Following its groundbreaking debut in Toronto last year, the most important one-on-one b-boy competition in the world, Red Bull BC One, returns June 3 – 4, 2016 at District 28 featuring b-boy El Nino, former Red Bull BC One World Champion RoxRite, b-boy Taiksuke, and legendary break DJs Lean Rock and Skeme Richards.
On Friday, June 3, the Red Bull BC One Open Cypher will determine the 11 breakdancers who will move into the Canadian Final on Saturday night. The Open Cypher will feature three individually judged spaces and is open to any b-boy or b-girl who thinks they have what it takes to enter the ring!
On Saturday, June 4, the Red Bull BC One Final will include 16 of the best breakdancers from across the country, going headspin to headspin as they battle for the chance to represent at the Red Bull BC One World Finals in Nagoya, Japan in December. In addition to the 11 finalists from Friday’s Open Cypher, participants will include Fléau, the defending Red Bull BC One Canada champion, Bboy Illz, the Wild Card from the Red Bull BC One North American Final, as well as include semi-finalists from 2015.
In addition to the Open Cypher and Final, Red Bull BC One Canada will be two full days celebrating hip-hop culture including a series of free workshops and panels about breaking, graffiti and DJ’ing, led by some of the biggest names in the game.
Red Bull BC One started in 2004 in Biel, Switzerland, and the World Final since has been hosted in Berlin, Germany (2005); São Paulo, Brazil (2006); Johannesburg, South Africa (2007); Paris, France (2008); New York City, USA (2009); Tokyo, Japan (2010), Moscow, Russia (2011); Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (2012); Seoul, South Korea (2013); Paris, France (2014) and Rome, Italy (2015). The 2016 edition will be held in Nagoya, Japan.
