Big Al & the Heavyweights new Blusiana Music release, SUNSHINE ON ME , was produced by American Roots Music, Award Winning Guitar Master and Songwriter, Anders Osborne. The cd features some great guest musicians including Anders plus jam band guitar hero, Warren Haynes of the Allman Brothers and Gov’t Mule playing his signature slide guitar on the title track. The recording finds drummer songwriter, Big Al and the band stretching the boundaries as never before with excellent production by engineer and co producer George Curreau who is famous for his work with ex Funky Metersguitarist, Brian Stoltz. From rockers, like “Midnight Train to Memphis” and “Don’t You Want Me” to low blues down blues like “Money Matters” featuring an incredible harmonica solo by John”The Colonel”Furhman and the shufflin sax driven “What’s Up with That” this cd has it all. The band even includes 2 straight up Zydeco songs, featuring accordionist Lance Caruso and washboard player Susie Leget in “Zydeco Boogie ” and “Pass A Good Time.” The all South Louisiana recording done at Suite Mix Studios in Slidell is the real deal with swamp pop numbers, “What Was I Thinking” written by the band’s guitarist, saxophonist and yes, fiddle player too, James Bass and the dance hall number, “Won’t You Dance with Me”. Finally, check the jammin funky bass playing by Dean Galatas in “Peaches” and the Coltrane influence “So Many Women”. This is definitely the band’s most eclectic roots music recording with something for everyone. .

The band’s potent gumbo of Americana combines the musical ingredients of Blues, Jazz and Zydeco, spiced with Roots Rock and lots of energy and fun!
