Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe seeks front-of-house volunteers
SARASOTA, FL – Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe (WBTT) is seeking volunteers to assist the front-of-house team with greeting, taking tickets and ushering during performances at its theatre, located at 1646 10th Way in Sarasota. WBTT is looking for volunteers willing to accept ongoing, regularly scheduled slots as well as sporadic assistance to help with the remainder of this season, during the summer show and for the 2015-2016 season.
Those interested in volunteering must be 16 years or older and must be able to stand for at least an hour before performances and for 15 minutes during intermission. High school students seeking community service hours are invited to apply. Volunteers receive a complimentary ticket to the performances for which they are on duty.
“As local interest in our productions has increased, the demands on our professional team have grown exponentially,” said WBTT executive director Richard M. Parison, Jr. “Not only will these volunteers greatly benefit our theatre as we work to produce plays that promote and celebrate the African-American experience, attract diverse audiences, and support African-American artists, it will also afford them the chance to see our sold-out productions free of charge. It’s a win-win situation!”
Those interested in ushering at WBTT can call the volunteer hotline (941)366-1505, ext. 109 or they can email Myllanna McKinnon at [email protected].
