 WEIZMANN WONDER WANDER 4G IS ONLINE

 

REHOVOT, ISRAEL—June 20, 2016—Want to know what scientists are doing in their labs at this moment? How the effort to expand human knowledge is progressing? The Weizmann Institute of Science’s popular science site, Weizmann Wonder Wander, reports on research from the frontiers of science, along with presenting insight into the dialogue between science, art, and culture. The site has undergone a redesign and an upgrade, and is now online in an accessible, mobile- and tablet-ready version, with embedded Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. The site is available in English at http://wis-wander.weizmann.ac.il/.

Weizmann Wonder Wander is aimed at the general public, and includes, among other things:

  • More than 3,000 popular science articles that touch on today’s burning scientific issues and on research conducted at the limits of human understanding – expanding those limits for future generations.
  • Hundreds of videos, including animation, describing and explaining current research.
  • Arts and culture articles: exhibits at the Weizmann Institute, talks with scientists and artists working at the interface of their disciplines, and more.
  • Galleries of scientific images from Weizmann laboratories.
  • All Weizmann Institute press releases, from 1998 to the present.
  • Reports of scientific inventions and industrial and medical applications arising from Institute labs.
  • Reports on activities and trends in the field of science education.
  • The history of science.
  • Nano-Comics, a scientific comic strip.

In addition, Weizmann Wonder Wander’s advanced indexing and search engine capabilities enable site visitors to easily and efficiently find articles and content.

The site runs both English (http://Wis-wander.weizmann.ac.il) and Hebrew (http://Heb.wis-wander.weizmann.ac.il) versions. Press releases are translated into additional languages, including French, Spanish, German, and Portuguese.

Weizmann Wonder Wander was established in 1998 and has undergone a series of upgrades. The current generation is its fourth: 4G.
