ON FOX SPORTS SOUTHWEST TO BECOME SEASON LEADER

 

One day after scoring their season-best television rating on FOX Sports Southwest, the Texas Rangers topped it Wednesday (Sept. 16) with a 5.47 rating in Dallas-Fort Worth in their 14-3 win over the Houston Astros. Wednesday’s telecast surpassed Tuesday’s (Sept. 15) 5.34 rating and moved to the top of this season’s Rangers TV ratings chart.

 

Among the ratings highlights:

 

  • An average of 142,400 TV homes in Dallas-Fort Worth watched Wednesday’s game.

 

  • The game beat all Dallas-Fort Worth over-the-air broadcast stations in primetime and was the second most-watched program of the night behind CNN’s Republican presidential debate, which received a preliminary 13.0 rating from 7:00-10:00 p.m. in Dallas-Fort Worth.

 

  • The audience grew as the game progressed, starting with a 3.49 rating (91,000) in the first quarter-hour (7:00-7:15 p.m.) and peaked with a 6.92 rating (180,200 homes) from 9:15-9:30 p.m. The game’s final two quarter-hours (9:30-10:00 p.m.) averaged a 6.04 rating and 157,300 homes.

 

  • Since July 29 when the Rangers began their hot streak that has vaulted them into first place in the A.L. West, games have averaged a 3.36 rating and bumped the team’s season ratings average on FOX Sports Southwest to 2.95.
