U.S. women golden at fencing world championships 

The U.S. women’s saber team captured the gold medal after defeating France, 45-39, at the FIE Senior World Championships in Kazan, Russia. The win marks their first senior world championship title since 2005 and the third in team history.

Todd Wells and Lea Davison took home the men’s and women’s titles at the 2014 Cross-Country Mountain Bike National Championships in Macungie, Pennsylvania.

April Ross, a 2012 Olympic silver medalist, was elected to the USA Volleyball board of directors as the female beach volleyball player representative. “Since the sport has afforded me many opportunities, I feel very compelled to give back to the volleyball community and USAV,” said Ross. Chairwoman Lori Okimura says Ross will bring an “experienced athlete perspective to the USAV board of directors.” Ross’s term will run through June 30, 2017.
