Union of the World: Monument to Peace unveiled in Tampa Bay

June 20, 2016- Clearwater, FL–Rising 26 feet off the ground and weighing in at almost 18,000 pounds, curious onlookers have been asking what is this amazing sculpture unveiled near the entrance to Gold & Diamond Source? “The Union of the World: Monument to World Peace,” is the world’s largest bronze mythological statue and symbolizes the union of the Hellenic and Latino cultures with the history of the United States as well as the cultural ties of Europe with America. Currently, the Gold and Diamond Source is providing its temporary home with hopes of making Tampa Bay it’s permanent residence.

According to the artist, this sculpture is also connected to the history of the United States through the origin of the US dollar. The two vertical lines of the US dollar sign are the two Pillars of Hercules. Gold & Diamond Source, will be holding a press event on Wednesday June 22nd at 1PM, at their store, located at 3800 Ulmerton Road, Clearwater, to discuss both the unveiling of the sculpture as well as information on opportunities to allow this amazing piece to reside long term in Tampa Bay.

According to Julie and Steve Weintraub, owners of Gold & Diamond Source, the sculpture was brought here as part of an artistic opportunity with famed international award winning artist Ginés Serrán. “To have art of this stature and cultural significance here in Tampa Bay is astonishing. My hope is that members of our community, travelers to the area, and art aficionados alike will appreciate such a breathtaking piece.” Says Julie Weintraub, Vice President of the Gold and Diamond Source.
