Sarasota-Manatee HR Association Receives Highest SHRM Award

[Sarasota, FL], July 7, 2017 — The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) recently awarded the Sarasota-Manatee Human Resources Association (SHRA) its prestigious EXCEL Platinum Award for the chapter’s accomplishments in 2016.

The award aligns individual chapters and state councils’ activities with SHRM’s aspirations for the HR profession. The award recognizes accomplishments and strategic activities and initiatives that enhance the human resources profession.

“Advancing the human resources profession is a daily mission at SHRM and Sarasota-Manatee’s outstanding work this year contributed significantly to that goal,” said Henry G. (Hank) Jackson, president and CEO of SHRM. “Recipients of this prestigious award are those who show a strong commitment to advancing the HR profession through service to the community, local networking, and professional development activities.”

The EXCEL award can be earned at four levels: bronze, silver, gold and platinum, and each level has a prescribed set of requirements and accomplishments that must be met. The Sarasota-Manatee HR Association will receive recognition in SHRM publications and at conferences, a logo to display on their website and information to share with their members about the significance of this award.

“To attain this incredible designation, our chapter outlined strategic initiatives and achieved them over the course of 2016,” said 2016 Sarasota-Manatee HR Association President, Christine Clyne, “We set out to increase our membership by 10% by reaching small business owners and corporate leaders; we continued our partnership with CareerSource to improve workforce readiness for those in our community who were either entering or re-entering the workforce by reviewing resumes, conducting mock interviews and providing career coaching. Lastly, we focused on diversity in our community with our annual one-day conference. We were able to connect local employers with underutilized segments of the labor market, specifically veterans, and traditionally underrepresented workers such as rehabilitated felons and the LGBT community.”
