THE SAFES SHARE NEW MUSIC VIDEO FOR
“STREETS AND SANITATION”
PREMIERING TODAY ON BIG TAKEOVER
OFF LATEST ALBUM TASTY WAVES
CONTINUING THEIR US TOUR
WITH WEST COAST DATES THIS MONTH
“Tasty Waves treats listeners to 10 tracks channeling Big Star, Guided By Voices and Rockpile. ‘Mediocre Jokers’ and ‘Nobody Cares Anymore’ recall the amphetamine-addled Beatles in their Hamburg days, but filtered through the future tense of New Wave, LSD and the oncoming train of postmodern irony.”
– Pop Matters
“…a two-minute blast of good old fashioned rock’n’roll fun.”
– Stereogum on “Hometown”
“smart, melodic music” – NPR Music
The Safes are thrilled to share their brand new music video for “Streets And Sanitation,” one of the tracks off their latest full-length, TastyWaves, which they released this past September. The video premieres today on Big Takeover, who praise the band of brothers’ penchant for writing “indelible lo-fi pop songs, winning over crowds both at home and around the US.” Directed by James William Glass, the video features found footage of what appears to be an alternate universe, making it fit the perfect vibe for those not ready to move past Halloween quite yet. The Safes have been on tour across the US since September, and will continue their travels with a string of west coast dates this month, culminating in a hometown Chicago show at Beat Kitchen on November 22nd. All upcoming tour dates are listed below.

Fresh and hot out of the indie pop rock n roll oven that is The Safes, comes the newest addition to their glimmering discography, Tasty Waves, out September 8th on Hidden Volume Records. A lush blend of acoustic rhythm guitars mixed with fuzzy rock n roll tones and bursts of electronic and organic piano, all backed by funky bass work and lively, dance party backbeat drums. The Safes deliver another winner with a weird batch of lyrics sure to make you laugh, think, wonder, cringe, and scream, “hell yeah!”
The Safes possess that unique chemistry that only exists when a talented group of siblings form a band. Call ‘em “garage-kissed power pop” (San Francisco Chronicle), “atomic pop” (Rolling Stone), or simply “wild and crazy” (Chicago Tribune), The Safes have collected plenty of accolades for however you’d like to sum up their songwriting expertise and sharp showmanship. Tasty Waves finds the brothers O’Malley (Frankie and Patrick), drummer Dex Fontaine, and bassist Curt Schmelz bringing the music of The Safes to both their loyal fans and a whole new set of ears. This isn’t just any other indie pop rock n roll record – Tasty Waves is a musical and lyrical hang ten complete with wipeouts and endless full tunnel runs top to bottom. Records as special as this one don’t make it to the beach as often as they used to.
