The 2016-2017 Perlman Music Program
Sarasota Winter Residency Schedule is Here!
The Perlman Music Program (PMP) returns to the Suncoast December 22 through January 7 for a 17-day intensive Winter Residency led by founder Toby Perlman, acclaimed violinist and conductor Itzhak Perlman and a world-renowned faculty. Presented by The Perlman Music Program/Suncoast, the annual Winter Residency in Sarasota and Manatee counties provides valuable mentoring and performance opportunities for young, international string musicians ages 12-22+ and provides a unique opportunity for audiences to experience the magic of musical mentoring.

From December 24, 2016 through January 7, 2017 you can enjoy more than 15 musical events, FREE OF CHARGE, including orchestra and chorus rehearsals, master classes, and works-in-progress student recitals. All performances are held in a heated tent located in the courtyard at USF Sarasota-Manatee.

This year’s PMP Sarasota Winter Residency also includes four ticketed Special Events:
Friday, December 30: Super Strings and Orchestra Rehearsal
A favorite among audiences, Super Strings features young Florida violinists, ages 9-16, who auditioned for the opportunity to perform with Itzhak Perlman and the PMP String Orchestra. This year’s piece is the third movement of Johann Sebastian Bach’s Concerto for Two Violins in D minor. Super Strings will be followed by the first Orchestra rehearsal of the Winter Residency.
Tickets:
$10
Thursday, January 5: Celebration Concert
The highlight of the Winter Residency features Itzhak Perlman conducting the PMP String Orchestra and Chorus Master Patrick Romano leading the PMP Chorus. This annual event celebrates the training and development of the PMP students throughout their 17-day residency.
Tickets: $40, $60 and $80
Friday, January 6: It’s A Wrap – Fundraising Party in the Performance Tent
This casual and fun event, celebrating the last event in the tent, will include a silent auction, food trucks and beer and wine, followed by a Chamber Music Works-In-Progress Recital.

Saturday, January 7: Works-In-Progress Student Recital
Close out the Winter Residency with the final event of the season – a Works-In-Progress Student Recital held indoors in the intimate setting of Neel Performing Arts Center, State College of Florida.
