There are millions of independent artists in our world today. What has made the artists who they are? Behind the scenes, from the struggles to the successes. What motivates artists to continue in their career, even though most are not only the performers, but the business person, marketer, promoter, and more. They must be efficient in all areas in order to make them, as a “performer,” a reality and a success. Independent artists are selected to be highlighted during each season of “The Journey” with several guest appearances along the way. Starting in the Sarasota, Florida area with the first season, a mecca for independent artists. Throughout the season the area will be highlighted as a music mecca and what draws creatives to the area, covering venues, festivals, etc. The following seasons will be set in musical cities around the country with a popular independent artist from the area hosting each season. The artists are excelling in their musical careers. They all have produced multiple albums and have a desire to continue spreading their music across the world using technology, music sales, live performances, cross country tours, festivals, charity events, music videos, etc.

We’ll introduce you to the style of their music, then travel behind the scenes to hear about their lives leading up to music and some of their first attempts at a band. See what it’s really like creating a song from the start. The stage performance is one thing and that’s the glamorous side. “The Journey” will take a look into what it takes to make it all happen. We’ll see how inspiration comes to each of them and the process they must go through to make it a success and just what exactly does success mean to an independent artist today. We’ll experience along with the artists that it’s not the destination, it’s “The Journey.”

The independent artists have a goal in mind for the finale of the show. They will have written and recorded an original song specifically about their personal journey. The season ends with a concert of original songs by the independent artists at a celebrated finale concert in a popular Sarasota venue.

Risks and challenges

The biggest risk is that the show may not receive syndication. Our goal is to continue with sponsorship and funding to make the first season happen. Taking it on the road for future seasons will depend on the show being picked up by a network. Our creative team is combining their network of volunteers who can help make the project a success. This is a fast paced project and filming has already begun. The project is set to finish filming Summer of 2015. Having an agent will allow us to get in front of networks for syndication. A great aspect to this team is that they are skilled, determined, and passionate to create a grassroots reality based television show and have the commitment of talented artists who have a desire to make this project come to fruition.
