SARASOTA KEYS RETURN TO DOWNTOWN

The Sarasota Keys piano project that has been bringing art and music to the vibrant downtown Sarasota district for the past two seasons will return this week.
Each piano has been transformed into a beautiful piece of public art, ready for you to play.

(Sarasota, FL) — The Arts and Cultural Alliance of Sarasota County announced today that it will bring its popular interactive music and art project back to the streets of downtown Sarasota with the third season of Sarasota Keys. The Sarasota Keys piano project will place four spinet pianos along the sidewalks of Main Street, Palm Avenue and Orange Avenue. These pianos are available for the public to play, explore, learn, practice, and most importantly, enjoy.

“We are very excited to bring the Sarasota Keys back to the downtown area,” stated Jim Shirley, Executive Director of the Arts and Cultural Alliance of Sarasota County. “This has been one of our region’s most popular public art projects. We love the fact that it is a true partnership between the City of Sarasota, our business community, and the Arts and Cultural Alliance.”

Four pianos, with the possibility of a fifth, will be placed with downtown host sponsors beginning Thursday, January 21, 2016 and will remain through May. Each piano has been artistically painted by a local artist and will be available for everyone in the community to play and enjoy. The initial four pianos will be located at Woman’s Exchange Inc. (539 South Orange Avenue), Clasico Café Bar (1341 Main Street), Louies Modern (1289 North Palm Avenue), and the Sarasota Herald Tribune building (1741 Main Street).
