SYD ARTHUR PREMIERES THE VIDEO FOR NEW SINGLE “NO PEACE” TODAY

TRACK FROM UK BAND’S NEW ALBUM

APRICITY OUT NOW
ON HARVEST RECORDS

British psych-rock band Syd Arthur release the video for their new single “No Peace” today via Harvest Records.  “No Peace” is from the band’s new album Apricity out now on Harvest Records.  Watch it HERE.
Says singer-guitarist Liam Magill, “‘No Peace’ is about information overload. We set out to write an inviting song with a message we can all relate to, a reminder to put down that screen down once in a while and experience something more real.  The video’s color palette is orange and grey reflecting the album artwork. The imagery was inspired by social media and the incessant objects that surround our modern existence.  Visually we wanted it to have a minimalistic and clean look but with added glitch and static to resemble the organized yet chaotic nature of the world.”
Syd Arthur is brothers Liam Magill, Joel Magill (bass, vocals), and Josh Magill (drums) and Raven Bush (violin, keyboards, mandolin). Formed in Canterbury, England, in 2003, the band has explored the myriad possibilities of improvisation, taking an exceptional approach born of prodigious musicianship, elemental songcraft, and an unabashed spirit of adventure. They have released three albums, including 2014’s Sound Mirror, and earned recognition as a thrilling live act. Syd Arthur has played myriad UK headline shows and support slots alongside such artists as White Denim, Jonathan Wilson, The Pixies, Sean Lennon’s The Ghost Of A Sabertooth Tiger, Paul Weller and most recently a sold- out US tour with Jake Bugg.
“Modern-day cosmic rock…their music positively shimmers… oddball, trippy pop music that leapfrogs boundaries and eras.  Imagine Tame Impala if Kevin Parker had spent his formative years at rave parties in the Kent woods rather than stoned out of his gourd in Perth…In many ways, Apricity, suggests Syd Arthur’s long strange trip has only just begun.  FOUR STARS”
“(Apricity is) a dynamic fourth EP…(Syd Arthur) recalls vintage Canterbury Scene quirkiness, but infused with the stone groove of psychedelic peers Tame Impala…(Syd Arthur is) a rare beast: ornate enough for classic prog fans, catchy enough for modern-rock radio.”

“Syd Arthur is one of those rare band that only need about five seconds of play time to hook you in and keep you listening for hours. (“Sun Rays”) can be best described as psychedelia with synths filled with plenty of instrumental layering, syncopated beats, and sweet guitar licks to impress both musical virtuosos and casual listeners who just want to dance.”

“(“Sun Rays” is) a dreamy pop song accompanied by whimsical visuals saturated with warm hues and abstract doodles…  Singer Liam Magill mimics the flow of the drawings as his voice flies over the synth and throbbing drums.

As playful as they are serious and as innovative as they are traditional, this is surely what Syd Arthur set out to be.”   FOUR STARS

“New songs as well as old favorites were greeted with a mixture of heavy applause and jaw-askew amazement- whether you’re dancing of just watching their fingers move, Syd Arthur will still blow your mind.”

“(Syd Arthur is) one of the best live bands around…”

With Apricity, the boys have… plenty of new ground breaking sonically speaking, and a whole lot of technical brilliance…top-class musicianship that’s fiercely experimental, pushing at the boundaries of what improvisation can achieve.”

“Their rather fittingly-named track [‘Sun Rays’ is] a myriad of golden hues and dancing…”

(Syd Arthur is) prog-rock’s best young band… (their) highly-articulated sound manages to seem both clean and complex at once.
