Starlite Players names casts for “Two By Two and TV Too”:

Four short comedies will run on October 8-9-10-11

SARASOTA, FL: Starlite Players is currently rehearsing four short comedies for October, collectively titled “Two By Two and TV Too.” The plays will be presented on Thursday through Saturday, October 8-9-10, at 7:30 p.m. and on Sunday, October 11, at 6:30 p.m. upstairs in The Starlite Room, 1001 Cocoanut Avenue.

The four comedies feature talented theatre professionals from this area, sometimes serving as actors in one play and directors for another. Three of the four playwrights (Marvin Albert, Jo Morello, Irene L. Pynn) and a director (Tim Guerrieri) make return engagements while author Richard J. Budin is making his Starlite debut. A number of well-known area favorites are involved with the October plays including Preston Boyd, Eve Caballero, David Meyersburg, Michael Kinsey, Neil Levine, Marta McKinnon, Betty Robinson, Bob Trisolini, Bob Turoff, Don Walker and Jenny Aldrich Walker, according to Jo Morello, producer.

Three of the plays deal with duos in one capacity or another. The fourth, HOW I MET THE SOPRANOS, presents a skewed look at the unreality of reality TV, its programs and its news shows. The plays are:

HOMECOMING FOR JENNY by Marvin Albert. Director: Bob Trisolini. Jenny (Eve Caballero) is determined to have a happy wedding, no matter what her mother (Jenny Aldrich Walker) thinks about her chosen spouse.

ANCIENT OAKS by Jo Morello. Director: Don Walker. Al (Preston Boyd), in his 60s, finally decides to marry his longtime girlfriend Barbara (Jenny Aldrich Walker)—but his feisty 80-year-old mother Ruth (Betty Robinson) objects vehemently. Best friend and tango teacher Bill (Bob Trisolini) brings common sense and Latin dancing to the situation.

HOW I MET THE SOPRANOS by Irene L. Pynn.  Director: Tim Guerrieri. Faithful fans have followed a popular TV series for years but feel betrayed by the final episode, which leads to worldwide rioting. A TV anchor (Neil Levine) oversees activities of several interviewers and interviewees, all portrayed with rapid-fire changes by Michael Kinsey and Marta McKinnon.

WHOLLY MOSES by Richard J. Budin. Director: Jenny Aldrich Walker. Devious Moses (David Meyersburg) comes up with one ploy after another as he negotiates with God (Bob Turoff) to get his people to the promised land.
