ST. LOUIS SYMPHONY ANNOUNCES NEW LIVE AT POWELL HALL CONCERTS

 

 

(ST. LOUIS) The St. Louis Symphony has added ten new concerts to its exciting 2014-2015 Live at Powell Hall line-up.  The additional performances include:

 

  • Faithfully—A Tribute to the Music of Journey (February 14, 2015 at 7:30pm)

Join the St. Louis Symphony on Valentine’s Day as it performs some of Journey’s biggest power ballads with a tribute band.  The set list will include favorites such as Don’t Stop Believing, Open Arms and Wheel in the Sky.

 

  • Final Fantasy  (May 15-16, 2015 at 7:30pm)

After a wildly successful debut with the St. Louis Symphony back in 2012, the music and magic from the video game series Final Fantasy returns to Powell Hall for a new set of sounds performed by the full orchestra.

 

  • Lost in Space (May 31, 2015 at 2pm)

The Symphony travels to galaxies far, far away with this special concert, featuring sci-fi music favorites from Star Wars, Star Trek and more.  St. Louis Symphony Resident Conductor Steven Jarvi will be at the podium for what promises to be an out –of-this-world performance.

 

  • Chris Botti (June 5, 2015 at 7:30pm)

Fan favorite Chris Botti returns to Powell Hall to perform with the St. Louis Symphony.  Chris, known around the world for his soulful trumpet sound, will perform songs from his Grammy-award winning record “Impressions.”

  • The Music of the Eagles (June 6, 2015 at 7:30pm)

The Music of the Eagles, with guest conductor Brent Havens, brings a full rock band to Powell Hall, performing the iconic rock band’s best-known hits with the St. Louis Symphony.  Selections will include “One of These Nights,” “Desperado,” “Life in the Fast Lane” and “Hotel California.”

 

  • The Sounds of Simon and Garfunkel (June 14, 2015 at 2pm)

The acclaimed national touring duo of AJ Swearingen and Jonathan Beedle bring their interpretations of Simon and Garfunkel to the St. Louis Symphony, with guest conductor Michael Krajweski.   Hear “Bridge Over Troubled Water,” “The Sound of Silence,” “The Boxer,” “America,” ”Mrs. Robinson,” and more.

 

 

 

  • Classical Mystery Tour (June 19, 2015 at 7:30pm)

The acclaimed Beatles tribute group returns to Powell Hall, performing with the St. Louis Symphony for another greatest hits evening from the Fab Four.

 

  • My Sinatra (June 21, 2015 at 2pm)

The St. Louis Symphony pays tribute to the music of Ol’ Blue Eyes with vocalist Cary Hoffman, who’s turned his celebrated PBS special into an afternoon of live music no Sinatra fan will want to miss.

 

  • The Music of U2 (June 26, 2015 at 7:30pm)

Conductor/arranger Brent Havens returns to podium for an evening of U2’s best songs as you’ve never seen them performed before.   The St. Louis Symphony will be joined by a full rock band and vocalist Brody Dolyniuk in this one-night-only performance.

 

 

Previously announced Live at Powell Hall performances include:

 

  • Pirates of the Caribbean 2 (September 19-21, 2014)

The St. Louis Symphony will mesh live music with swashbuckling cinema experience at Powell Hall.  The orchestra will provide the live score, as the film plays in a big screen just above the stage.  Perfect for pirates of any age!

 

  • Gladiator  (October 31-November 2, 2014)

The St. Louis Symphony provides the live score to the Academy-Award winning blockbuster Gladiator.

 

  • A Winter Fable (December 12-13, 2014)

The big top again comes to Powell Hall in a classic fairy tale set in a strange and wonderful winter world, where the fusion of circus arts and live classical music take center stage.  This is the third time the St. Louis Symphony has teamed up with its Grand Center neighbor Circus Flora for performances at Powell Hall.

 

  • Pixar in Concert (December 27-28, 2014)

It’s music from the movies your entire family will recognize and love.  Selections from some of the famed studio’s best-known films will be included in these special concerts conducted by St. Louis Symphony Resident conductor Steven Jarvi.

 

  • The Godfather (March 27-29, 2015)

Francis Ford Coppola’s iconic film about the mob makes its debut at Powell Hall, as the St. Louis Symphony performs Nino Rota’s instantly recognizable score live.
