Behind-The-Scenes Video Of The Making Of The Score Premieres On VEVO

Three-Part Miniseries Premieres On HBO On April 29

Solomon Grey’s Selected Works (Elcici Records/Astralwerks) – a 10-song collection from the London-based duo of Tom Kingston and Joe Wilson – is available now at all music retailers. Hailed as “brilliant and fresh” by Earmilk, Selected Works is a compilation of their work to date, providing an introduction to Solomon Grey – both as band and composers. It features a mixture of original tracks the duo composed for the HBO Miniseries/BBC adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s global bestseller The Casual Vacancy and previously written music, some of which will also be heard in the show. See below for track listing.

The hypnotic lead single “Miradors,”one of the songs tapped for the three-part miniseries, is driven by domineering synths and a forceful beat, balanced by soothing falsetto vocals, punctuated by glimmers of staccato strings. “Solomon Grey match hazy, gauzy, electronic pop to some gorgeous textures and intense pangs of emotion…’Miradors’ is another imposing step forwards,” said Clash Magazine. “Covered in a cold, metallic sheen, it is arguably their best song to date,” observed MyOldKentuckyBlog.com. “Choir To The Wild,” the final track from Selected Works, will provide the backdrop to the miniseries’ climax. The video for “Choir To The Wild” can be viewed HERE.

The Casual Vacancywill premiere on HBO on April 29 and 30, with parts one and two airing back-to-back on Wednesday, April 29, from 8:00-10:00 p.m. ET/PT, followed by the debut of part three the next night, Thursday, April 30, from 8:00-9:00 p.m. ET/PT. The Casual Vacancy centers on Pagford, a seemingly idyllic English village with a cobbled market square and ancient abbey. Behind the pretty façade, however, is a town at war: rich vs. poor, teenagers vs. parents, wives vs. husbands, teachers vs. pupils.

Solomon Grey provides an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the making of the score for The Casual Vacancy in this clip, which premiered on VEVO. Watch the miniseries to hear music from Selected Works. The HBO trailer for The Casual Vacancy can be viewed HERE.

Tom Kingston and Joe Wilson originally met in Wilson’s hometown of Oxford before moving to London. However, it wasn’t until the pair relocated to the West Coast of Ireland was Solomon Grey was born.Writing in isolation and free from distraction, the duo experimented with mixing contemporary production and classical composition, crafting the distinct sound that is now instantly recognizable across both their pop music and film work. The band’s first single, “Gen V,”released by tastemaker label Black Butter, was heralded as the “future of Radio 1” by Zane Lowe and “utterly stunning” by BBC 6’s Lauren Laverne. It showcased their ability to write catchy pop melodies underpinned by Wilson’s unique and haunting vocals – which can also be heard on Deep House producer Lane’s smash single “Diamonds.” Two additional singles along with scores for the Wild Atlantic Way Project and BFI film Gozo further enhanced Solomon Grey’s reputation as one of the most vital new British artists.
