Shane Harper’s new EP, Like I Did (Deep Well/Virgin Records), is out today and available on iTunes, Amazon, Google Play and Spotify. The Los Angeles-based artist is currently opening for Jacob Whitesides on “The Lovesick Tour.” The North American run includes a show tonight at The Altar Bar in Pittsburgh, PA and a sold-out concert at the legendary Troubadour in West Hollywood, CA on June 18. Tickets and VIP packages are available at http://www.shaneharper.com. Harper has announced headline shows in Austin and New Orleans, with more dates to be added. See below for itinerary.
Like I Did follows the success of Harper’s 2014 single “Hold You Up,” which had more than four million streams worldwide, and his self-titled debut album, which featured the Top 10 hit “One Step Closer.”He recorded Like I Did with producers Louis Biancaniello and Michael Biancaniello, Jake Scott, Morgan Taylor Reid, Jordan Palmer, Peer Åström and Deep Well Records Founder/CEO Adam Anders, who also served as Executive Producer.
The five-song EP finds Harper expanding his sound to build a more rhythm-driven spin on anthemic pop. With characteristic heart-on-the-sleeve honesty, he conveys subtle, nuanced feelings with a sophistication that comes from years of writing intensely personal material. Harper’s soaring vocals and elegant piano work are at the forefront of the R&B-flavored title track, which captures what he describes as “the heartbreak of knowing that the person you once loved is with someone else now.” GRAMMY® winner Manny Marroquin mixed the song.
“So much of why I write songs is that it just feels right and helps me work out whatever I’m going through,” he notes. “I want to let people know that it’s okay to go through those tougher moments-and then maybe help them come out of it with a more hopeful feeling than they had before.”
Harper is currently at work on a new studio album. Also an established actor and dancer, he has been cast in the role of Robbie in the television movie “Dirty Dancing,” which will air on ABC. His credits include a starring role on MTV’s “Happyland” and recurring roles on “Awkward” and “Good Luck Charlie.” Harper wrote “Hold You Up” for the hit independent film “God’s Not Dead,” which he had the lead role in. He also performed in the recent FOX musical event “THE PASSION,” which was broadcast live from New Orleans.
