MUSEUM OF SEX’s PLAY RESTAURANT TO LAUNCH A FIFTY SHADES OF FASHION SHOW

BRUNCH FOR VALENTINE’S DAY WEEKEND

For Immediate Release February 2, 2015

New York, New York – The popular Saturday fashion brunch known as Runway the Real Way (RTRW) created and curated by former Ford Model and plus size advocate, Catherine Schuller, has changed venues from the Dojo Restaurant at the YOTEL HOTEL in Times Square to the restaurant PLAY within the Museum of Sex located north of the Flatiron District in NYC.  The fashion brunch has been host to hundreds of designers, models, photographers and produced over 60 shows within the past two years at the YOTEL. RTRW is a fashion show entity that produces fashion shows based on diversity and innovative integration and features all sizes, shapes, genders, heights, ethnicities, persuasions on what is called the “inclusive catwalk.”  The Runway is a metaphor for life — every day is a fashion show and the world is your runway!”  Schuller believes that the fashion-fits-none-mentality so prevalent during Fashion Week is antiquated.  She says emphatically, “Inclusivity is just good for business!”

With the YOTEL doing major restructuring and renovations beginning January 1, the RTRW brunch had to look elsewhere for a home.   Marvin Coleman of Capital M Enterprises, LLC had seen the excitement around the brunch at the Yotel and invited Schuller to his partner’s venue, The Museum of Sex, because he knew they were looking for a way to capitalize on the under-utilized PLAY lounge space.  After visiting the fashion event at the YOTEL and meeting Catherine, he was inspired to invite the brunch brigade with its merry supporters of fans, models, designers, stylists, makeup and hair artists, not to mention a band of photographers and backstage denizens, to build out a new destination brunch spot at the laid back lair.   “The PLAY den/space has a lot of potential and an undiscovered vibe even though it’s attached to the popular MoSex’s gift shop,” says Coleman.  Together Schuller and Coleman have created a customized RTRW brunch format just for MoSex which will launch on Valentine’s Day, February 14th, the museum’s busiest day.  Our goal is reinventing the space to keep it “Play”-ful and work against the obvious sexual fashion choices and strive for real NYC style,” adds Coleman.

The full brunch format will be on Valentine’s Day during the MoSex’s GET STEAMY weekend and will include two seatings — first one from 12:30-2:30 pm and the second seating from 3-5 PM a bottle of champagne, AppeTeaser light gourmet brunch items will be offered ($100 per person).   Informal modeling throughout the entire museum with the various designers’ clothing on models will be featured in tableau groupings.  February 15th will be same times for AppeTeaser seatings, but with the addition of a 1:30 pm and 3:30 pm fashion runway show called Fifty Shades of Fashion in the middle of the brunch seating. AppeTeasers are edible plated pleasures, that have a “tapas fare” feel with free flowing drinks – Bellinis, Mimosas, Bloody Marys and Red/White Sangria ($35 per person). There will be a fashion show but models will be freeze modeling in the front street window before and after the shows both days.  They will also walk throughout the galleries, modeling the designer’s clothing and fraternizing with patrons posing individually and in tableau type groups.  Free flowing fun will keep the pace lively and infused with the contagious power of sensuality and love. “

Another aspect of RTRW is Stylaga, a fashion social networking app, which features live fashion show shopping right at the moment the clothing is on the runway that day in real time.  Stylaga’s Eugene Kay lends an e-commerce immediacy and delivers cutting edge fashion tech savvy to the ambiance.  Stylaga creates a video of the event as well for its YouTube channel and affords brunchers the luxury of purchasing the clothing right then in real time — “From Our Catwalk to Your Closet.”   Designers include Rufus Dixon, Fantasia Veneziana, Valerie Simoes Designs, Anna Lyndley, DeDe Allure for Montage Manhattan and Sarah Bunn of Bunn Funn, tying in her creative couture canvases of Vintage Africana feel celebrating Black History Month.   Fifty Shades of Fashion will feature men’s elegant bespoke wear from Designer DeDe Allure’s “Montage Manhattan” menswear line, just like Mr. Grey wears in the movie, Fifty Shades of Grey premiering on V-day as well.  Love is in the air as there may even be some surprise performances and audience participatory games for prizes and giveaways.  Sponsors are signing on as we speak.  One Clique Shoes is providing footwear for the female models and is the new wave in footwear braced to become the new wave with its shoe separates that click on and off to create a myriad of style options.  Key Hair and Makeup is provided by Gotham Beauty Lounge in New York City.   Sure to be a sell out, RSVPs are required.  Please call to reserve your place at NYC’s hottest V-day brunch.  Email [email protected] or check out the Facebook page Museum of Sex’s Fifty Shades of Fashion show or call the Museum for more information at (212) 689-6337
