Sarasota Singles Society Partners with Award-Winning AmaWaterways:

“The Enchanting Rhine: A River Cruise

Sarasota Singles Society’s inaugural group cruise is scheduled to depart from Switzerland in April 2015.

(Sarasota-Manatee) Sherry Janes, president of Sarasota Singles Society, recently announced that the organization has partnered with AmaWaterways to present Sarasota Singles Society’s inaugural river cruise, “The Enchanting Rhine.” This eight-day cruise on the AmaCerto departs from Basel, Switzerland, on April 20, 2015, with an option to stay two nights in Zurich and two in Lucerne at five-star hotels. Janes says that AmaWaterways has offered guests the opportunity to book a single rate cabin and receive a $500 discount. “This is a tremendous opportunity,” says Janes. “We’re thrilled to partner with AmaWaterways, which was recently recognized as the only river cruise company based in the U.S. to receive a 4-Star Plus rating in Berlitz’s new guidebook on river cruising,”says Janes. She adds that, “river cruising is the hottest buzz in the travel industry. These long, sleek ships are designed to navigate rivers and low ancient bridges, taking travelers right into the heart and culture of old-world cities.” AmaWaterway ships accommodate 140 to 164 people and, according to Janes, “provide “supreme comfort and convenience making it the premier way to experience magnificent cities, historic villages and little-seen enclaves.” Janes explains that river cruise guests will be “traveling through Switzerland, Germany, France and Holland, and arriving in Amsterdam at the peak of the tulip bloom season, passing fields with millions of colorful blooms.”

Janes says that interest in the trip has been growing exponentially. “I’m delighted in the response. This has been a real growth experience for our club and one we’ll build on. We’ll definitely be partnering with AmaWaterways and other travel companies to custom-design more journeys for area singles throughout the year.” She reminds people to not miss the boat. “Space on board the AmaCerto is already limited and is booking up very quickly. We encourage all those who wish to join in our grand adventure to reserve their space as soon as possible.”

Janes, a retired interior designer who moved to Sarasota from Highlands, North Carolina, in 2012, says she launched Sarasota Singles Society after experiencing challenges meeting new friends and potential dates. Her inspiration? A successful singles society her friends had created in Chicago. “I used their group as a model—and I’m happy to say the concept works perfectly here,” she says. Janes adds that the Sarasota social group goes beyond helping area singles meet; it also offers opportunities to develop life-long friendships while enjoying upscale social events, culture and travel.

“It’s a wonderful way to make new friends, enjoy an active social life, find compatible travel companions, or network for your business,” she says. “We provide opportunities for single people of all ages to meet and socialize in comfortable settings that allow people to develop relationships in a natural way.”

She says that in less than a year, many people have already made meaningful connections.

“These connections don’t always lead to romance but they do lead to friendships,” says Janes. “This is especially true for people who just relocated to the area, or those who recently lost their life partner. It’s just a natural way to make new friends, enjoy an active and fulfilling social life, and, yes, perhaps meet a new romantic interest.”
