(Sarasota, FL) — The Arts and Cultural Alliance of Sarasota County has teamed up with Whole Foods Market Sarasota for a special Sarasota Keys concert entitled Piano Quattro Prelude. Four of the Sarasota Keys pianos will be brought together for an unforgettable evening of live music in Downtown Sarasota. The free event will take place on Friday, March 14, 5pm to 6pm, followed by the 2nd Annual Beers and Beards Festival from 6-8pm.

We are so excited to bring together a unique live event once again in Downtown Sarasota, involving the arts and one of our newest partners, Whole Foods Market Sarasota,” says Jim Shirley, Executive Director of the Alliance. “The Sarasota Keys pianos have been such a dynamic project, bringing the Sarasota community together to create and enjoy art. This free concert is another reason for people to get downtown and enjoy everything Sarasota has to offer.”

Directly following the concert, event attendees are encouraged to donate $10 to Whole Planet Foundation, which will allow them access into Whole Foods Market Sarasota’s 2nd Annual Beers and Beards Festival. From 6-8pm the Whole Body Department will be featuring bottomless beer samples, a “Best Beard” competition, eco-friendly men’s body care and nutrition vendors, local musicians, raffles and more. “We are thrilled to be kicking off our evening on the 14th with the Piano Quattro Prelude,” says Alina Sabadish, Marketing Team Leader at Whole Foods Market Sarasota. “We hope the community enjoys this fun evening and are excited to plan future events for art lovers with the Alliance.”

The Sarasota Keys piano project began in January 2014, with the placement of six pianos along the sidewalks of Downtown Sarasota. Seven of Sarasota’s legacy artists, with the help of curator Tim Jaeger, transformed the pianos into works of public art. The artists included: Jack Dowd, Richard Capes, Gale Fulton-Ross, Steven Strenk, Cassia Kite, Tim Jaeger, and Lori Loveberry George.

The Sarasota Keys pianos are available to the public at each of the host locations:

  • Whole Foods – 1451 1st Street

  • Main Street Traders – 1468 Main Street

  • Louie’s Modern – 1289 N Palm Ave

  • Mattison’s City Grille – 1 N Lemon Ave

  • Bohemian Bliss Boutique – 1544 Main Street

  • DiFilippo Kent Showroom – 79 S Palm Ave

Sarasota Keys would like to thank each of its Piano Sponsors for their generous support of the project: Alfstad& Productions, Artist Series Concerts, Bohemian Bliss Boutique, Paul Mattison, MLC & Associates, Stan Rutstein, and Whole Foods Market Sarasota. Special thanks to Pritchard’s Pianos of Sarasota.

About Sarasota Keys

The Sarasota Keys piano project hosts six pianos along the sidewalks of Downtown Sarasota – in its inaugural season, January 2014 through May 2014. These pianos are open for the public to play, explore, learn, practice, and most importantly, enjoy. Many other major cities around the world have initiated piano projects, but none have involved an entire community to get it off the ground. With the combination of local businesses, local artists, and local arts organizations, the Sarasota Keys piano project will truly celebrate and enliven the vibrant Downtown Sarasota area and its powerful arts and cultural community.
