Annual Amateur Sand Sculpture Contest returns to Siesta Beach 

SARASOTA COUNTY – Sarasota County Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources is excited to continue a long-standing tradition at Siesta Beach with the return of the 43rd Annual Amateur Sand Sculpture Contest on Saturday, May 2.

 

The contest is open to all ages and all amateur skill levels. This free family event is sponsored by the Friends of Sarasota County Parks.

 

Categories for cash prizes are: first, second, and third place in the Children (10 and younger), Youth (ages 11-17) and Adult categories; and one People’s Choice Award. Be ready to have some fun in the sun and sand and create your best sculpture in a 10-by-10-foot square.

 

Event registration begins at 8:30 a.m. on May 2, with judging beginning at 1 p.m. and awards at 2 p.m. Spectators are invited to take part in selecting the People’s Choice Award by voting for their favorite. There is no rain date for this event.

 

Siesta Beach, recently rated the nation’s No. 1 beach by TripAdvisor and AARP, is located at 948 Beach Road, Siesta Key.
