La Luciernaga is a touching story, with English sub titles, portrayed in Bogota, Columbia, about a developing love relationship between two woman. The one whose brother was killed in an auto accident on the day that the other woman was to get married to the brother. The photography was superbly done with a good blend of indoor and outdoor scenes. Near the end the sexual scene between the two women was very tastefully done, however if you are squeamish to such acts, then perhaps this is not the movie for you to watch. As with all good movies it has a very endearing long lasting twist at the end.

There only aspect of the movie that did not appear to be totally clear was the reason why the brother and sister were estranged for three years. It was the scene which tried to explain the cause for the estrangement— which appeared to be a present day scene, rather than more clearly emphasizing that it was a scene three years ago in the movie time line.

Even though the movie was filmed in Columbia, thankfully there were no violent scenes what so ever. Many of the movies that this reviewer has seen this year at the Sarasota Film Festival also do not use violence and it is a testament to the fact that a good movie can be successfully made with out resorting to violence for its mainstay.

In conclusion, this movie —if it were possible to give a 6 out of 5, then this movie would get it. However, only a 5 out of 5 is possible.
