SARASOTA COUNTY – Plan on some big league family-friendly fun at the Howl-O-Ween Movie Night Spooktacular at Ed Smith Stadium, Saturday, Oct. 17.
This new event, sponsored by Sarasota County Parks, Recreation & Natural Resources, Sarasota Film Festival and the Baltimore Orioles, features children’s games and activities, a costume parade around the bases and a screening of the Disney movie “Frankenweenie” (PG) shown on the outfield video board.
Gates open at 5 p.m. with children’s Halloween-themed games and activities in the concourse and near the outfield wall. Kids are encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes as part of the fun, as the Orioles’ Bird will lead a costume parade around the bases at 6:40 p.m. with an on-field camera transmitting onto the ball park’s video board. The screening of “Frankenweenie” begins at 7 p.m., and all gates will close following the film at approximately 9 p.m.
Families are also encouraged to bring a blanket to watch the movie from the outfield or enjoy viewing from ballpark seating. Concessions will be available and families can bring sealed water bottles into the park. No coolers, outside food or lawn chairs are allowed and no high heels are permitted on the field. Children age 14 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Rain date is Oct. 24.
Enter the ballpark through the left field gate. Admission is a non-perishable food item to benefit All Faiths Food Bank. Free parking is available in the east lot.
