PIER 22 invites guests from all over to indulge in a traditional Thanksgiving feast Thursday, November 24, 2016, from 11:00 a.m. – 10 p.m.

BRADENTON, Fla., Oct. 17, 2016 – For more than 40 years, PIER 22 has been taking part in a Thanksgiving Day tradition that continuously increases in popularity season after season: restaurant prepared Thanksgiving meals. Results from the latest survey completed and published by the National Restaurant Association showed that around 15 million Americans planned a visit to a restaurant on Thanksgiving Day 2013. PIER 22, among other Bradenton area restaurants, will stay open on Thanksgiving to meet demand this year.

Hudson Riehle, senior vice president of the Research and Knowledge Group for the National Restaurant Association, told the NRA that the following benefits to dining out on Thanksgiving include “convenience,” “more time for friends and family” and less time spent “cooking and cleaning.” The NRA report also mentioned that dining out on Thanksgiving and Black Friday is very common for Black Friday shoppers.

For the past four years, Annalisa Ford has celebrated Thanksgiving Day with around 10-14 of her close friends and family at PIER 22. Ford said that she was “tired of cooking,” and she found that dining at PIER 22 alleviated a lot of the stress. “We like it because PIER 22 also offers the full menu” and “it’s easier on our friends from out of town.”

“For the average cook, putting together a Thanksgiving meal is tireless work,” said PIER 22 Executive Chef Greg Campbell. “Grocery shopping alone can take hours and can cost big bucks to purchase all of the ingredients needed for a single meal out of the year, and since there’s really no price tag we can place on time with loved ones, I can understand why more Bradenton families are skipping the cooking and cleaning. Dining at PIER 22 or picking up one of our scratch-cooked turkey meals to go is a great value and a great alternative to going it alone,” he said.

For Thanksgiving 2016, PIER 22 will prepare a special feast that will feature a variety of traditional Thanksgiving offerings: fresh roasted turkey, housemade stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, sweet potato casserole, broccoli casserole, green beans, cranberry sauce, housemade dinner rolls and housemade pumpkin pie. The full PIER 22 dinner menu will also be available. Thanksgiving dinner is $27.95 for adults and $14.95 for children 12 and under. A PIER 22 to go Thanksgiving meal for four is $99, and it comes with a free bottle of Pinot Noir while supplies last!

PIER 22 expects to seat more than 1,000 guests on Thanksgiving. The restaurant fills up fast and Thanksgiving Day reservations are strongly encouraged.
