SYMPHONY SOCIETY TO CELEBRATE THE CHINESE NEW YEAR

THE YEAR OF THE MONKEY

Fort Myers, FL–On February 4, 2016 the SWFL Symphony Society will celebrate the Chinese New Year – the Year of the Monkey. The Chinese New Year celebration will take place at the Cape Coral Yacht Club on February 4, 2016. Enjoy a second New Year’s Eve in 2016 and lift your glass saying “Gong Xi Fat Choy” (Happy New Year). The evening is being hosted by Mei-Mei Chan and is sponsored by the Monkey Bar Steak and Seafood Restaurant in Cape Coral. Doors open at 5:00PM.

It promises to be a fun evening with professional Chinese entertainment including the dragon dance, a Kung Fu demonstration and professional acrobats from the Kung Fu Institute and Cirque Revolution. We are pleased to announce that Noelle Aparte, winner of the 2015 Marilyn Van Sickle Vocal Competition, will perform Chinese folk songs. Dinner will be prepared by Chef Hao Wah from Tampa, FL.

This event is one of several events being held by the Society this season to raise funds for the Southwest Florida Symphony Orchestra. The net proceeds from each of these events go directly to the orchestra. Unlike other organizations, the Society is strictly volunteers so there are no overhead charges taken from the proceeds of the events.
