Mumford & Sons Cap Greatest Week in their Lives with Midnight Show
Tom Morello Joins the Band for Springsteen Cover
Mumford & Sons are now numb from the non-stop pinching themselves – after a week of playing with their idols, and a rather out of the ordinary TV appearance. It began last Friday when Foo Fighters headlined the first night of Mumford & Sons’ Gentlemen Of The Road Stopover in Walla Walla, Washington. Monday was the first of two sold-out shows at the legendary Forum in Los Angeles, and their second appearance there on Tuesday was highlighted by a special appearance by Blink-182’s Mark Hoppus joining the band, along with openers The Vaccines and Jack Garrett to perform The Eurythmics’ “Sweet Dreams.” On Wednesday the band appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, where they appeared in a “mockumentary” called “Behind The Mumfords,” which explored Mumford & Sons’ fictional early days as a boy band called Mum Town in the 1990’s, with fifth member Jimmy “Mum” Kimmel.  Kimmel’s nickname “Mum” came about when the band forbade him to sing because he was so awful. After the comedy skit, the band took to the stage and performed songs from their latest album, Wilder Mind.
Mumford & Sons ended their three days in LA with a midnight show for KROQ at the Troubadour, the very location of the band’s first ever Los Angeles gig. And because the week needed to top itself once again the band was joined by Rage Against The Machine’s Tom Morello, jumping on stage to perform Bruce Springsteen’s “Ghost Of Tom Joad” as well a grand finale singing Blink 182’s “What’s My Name Again” alongside Mark Hoppus.
In May, Mumford & Sons scored their second #1 debut album on the Billboard Top 200 Chart with the release of Wilder Mindin addition to a #1 debut on the Billboard Top Rock Albums chart. After just 3 months, the chart-topping album has streamed over 218 million albums worldwide. On Spotify alone, the band has streamed 123 million on Wilder Mind putting it in the top 20 most streamed new releases of 2015.
The band is off to their final date in North America in support of Wilder Mind, playing a Gentlemen Of The Road Stopover in Salida, Colorado this Friday and Saturday, before heading back to the UK to headline Reading and Leeds festivals.
