MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL PLAYERS ALUMNI ASSOCIATION BRINGS “SWING WITH THE LEGENDS” GOLF CLASSIC TO CROMWELL, CT

Golf tournament to feature Gaylord Perry, Rollie Fingers, Chris Chambliss and other MLB Alumni

Colorado Springs, Colo. – The Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association will host a “Swing with the Legends” celebrity golf tournament featuring former Yankees, Mets, Red Sox, MLB All-Stars, Cy Young Award winners and other alumni. A celebrity reception and banquet will take place Sunday, August 10th and the golf tournament will take place on Monday, August 11th.  Proceeds from this event will benefit Kindervision, a charity focused on child safety education.

Alumni players attending* the event include Hall of Famers Gaylord Perry and Rollie Fingers, two-time Yankees World Series champion Chris Chambliss,as well as Tony Balsamo, Shawn Barton, Rob Bell, Bruce Berenyi, Darren Bragg, Kevin Buckley, Fred Cambria, Doug Clemens, Jim Coates, Ron Diorio, Angel Echevarria, Darrell Evans, Dave Fleming, Tim Foli, Rich Folkers, Ken Henderson, Mike Laga, John Lamb, Jim Leyritz, Skip Lockwood, Keith MacWhorter, Brian Mooney, John Montefusco, Ed Phillips, Al Severinsen, Mike Torrez, Fred Valentine, Jon Warden and Gary Waslewski.

The celebrity reception will take place on Sunday, August 10th at 5:00 p.m., hosted at The First Tee Connecticut, located at 55 Golf Club Road, Cromwell, CT 06416. The golf event the following day will take place at the TPC River Highlands Golf Course, with registration starting at 8:30 a.m. followed by a $10,000 putting contest at 9:45 a.m. and a shotgun start at 10:30 a.m. The TPC River Highlands Golf Courseis located at 1 Golf Club Road, Cromwell, CT 06416. After the tournament there will be an awards luncheon, beginning at 3:00 p.m.
