Lehman Center for the Performing Arts will present for the first time, JOSÉ NOGUERAS, direct from Puerto Rico  celebrating 30 years of “PARRANDA” for its popular, special holiday event, PARRANDA NAVIDEÑA, a Christmas celebration highlighting the unique music of Puerto Rico on Saturday, December 12th, 2015 at 8pm. By definition a Christmas “PARRANDA” Puerto Rican style is a group of friends or family visiting a home carrying Christmas music and party atmosphere. A night of pure Puerto Rican music that captures the true essence of Navidad Boricua, the concert will also feature EL TRIO BORINQUEN, who embody the romance of traditional music. Lehman Center for the Performing Arts is on the campus of Lehman College/CUNY at 250 Bedford Park Boulevard West, Bronx, NY 10468. Tickets for PARRANDA NAVIDEÑA with JOSÉ NOGUERAS, on Saturday, December 12th, at 8pm are $50, $45, and $25, with a special $10 ticket price for children 12 and under, and can be purchased by calling the Lehman Center box office at 718-960-8833(Monday through Friday, 10am–5pm, and beginning at 12 noon on the day of the concert), or through online access at www.LehmanCenter.org. Lehman Center is accessible by #4 or D train to Bedford Park Blvd. and is off the Saw Mill River Parkway and the Major Deegan Expressway. Low cost on-site parking available for $5.

JOSÉ NOGUERAS was born in 1951 in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, moving at age eight to Rio Piedras where he began singing and playing the guitar in a number of musical groups. In 1968 he began working as a professional musician and composer, writing hit songs like “Amanda Mía”, “Dame La Mano Paloma”, “No Quieren Parar”, “Aquél Bolero de Ayer”, “Esta Canción”, “Navidad es Amor” and “Casa Pobre, Casa Grande”. His songs have been performed by a long list of singers including Cheo Feliciano, Rubén Blades, Hector Lavoe, Ismael Miranda, Willie Colón, Gilberto Santa Rosa, Shakira and Danny Rivera. Known for his Christmas music, Nogueras released his first two holiday albums, Para Tu Fiesta and Tiempo Nuevo, in 1994. Several subsequent Christmas albums have reached the top ten Billboard Latin Tropical sales charts including Todo El Ano Navidad (2010), Asi Son Las Navidades (2011) and 27 Éxitos… y La Ñapa (2012) the latter being a combination of his greatest hits and holiday music. This year, his latest release Tremendo Regalorose to the Billboard Latin Tropical number eight spot and Nogueras will also be featured performing “Mira Ya Tú Ves, Llegaron Las Navidades” in the upcoming Luis Amed Irizarry musically directed 2015 Banco Popular de Puerto Rico Christmas television special and CD Cuba Y Puerto Rico. Over the years, he has been honored with important awards including the Billboard Magazine Composer of the Year Award and the Premios Agueybaná y Cemí Awards for Singer of The Year and Christmas Production of the Year.

EL TRIO BORINQUEN, is a guitar trio that embodies the romance of traditional Puerto Rican music. Lead by the exceptional vocalist, guitarist and San Sebatian del Pepino, Puerto Rico native Papo Valle, El Trio Borinquen have become an icon of the popular music of Puerto Rico.
